I wasn’t diagnosed with a pre-existing condition, why should I submit a pre-existing condition form?
Going to hospital without confirming if you’re covered (or getting the assessment done) can be costly. That’s because if you claim and it is later determined your condition is pre-existing, you’ll need to pay any hospital and medical charges not covered by Medicare. We won’t pay benefits for a condition deemed pre-existing during the 12-month waiting period.
It’s also worth noting that an independent medical assessor (not your treating doctor) decides if an illness or condition is pre-existing.
To avoid unexpected costs, contact us before you book your treatment so we can check if you’re covered. You should also ask your doctor for a breakdown of all fees before you agree to any treatment.
