Can I suspend my membership if I’m having financial issues?
Yes, suspension may be an option if:
- you (or your spouse) have been receiving unemployment payments (from Centrelink or other sources) or have been on leave without pay for more than one month
- you’ve been a member with us for at least 12 months (and you aren’t in arrears)
- your membership has been active for at least 12 months between suspension periods for financial reasons
- your membership hasn’t been suspended for financial hardship for more than 36 months in the last five years.
You can’t suspend your membership for financial hardship reasons if you (or your spouse) receive these Centrelink payments:
- Age pension
- Parental Leave Pay
- Parenting Payment
- Family Tax Benefit
